Wow, Solaris sucks ass. It's like a shit distro of Linux that is proprietary, you have to fill out fuçktons of forms before you do anything, and pay an absurd amount of money for many basic features. But I installed Parallels to install Solaris on, so I figured I'd try FreeBSD while I was at it, and I love it. It's a bitch to configure and most of the configuration must be done by manually editing a bunch of conf files through the terminal, but that's part of the fun. I may start using BSD over Linux.

Not really...why don't you try it out on your own before you take the class?

I seriously doubt you will ever know everything. And if you do then it makes it more fun because you can insult the people who know nothing.
There were people in my Programming I class that didn't write a line of code the whole time, but still passed...but 90% of their work was mine. The other 10% were errors that the people who sat next to me made while copying my code which they passed on to the rest of the class...I'm not the best programmer in my Programming II class though. There is some annoying senior who has taken all four of the programming classes and came into my class because he didn't have anything else for that period. Anyway, if you're worried about that then just learn a language that you don't think they will teach.

If you want to try and learn to be a novice programmer you can try out byond.com. They offer DM and you can create 2D games of any sort.

Computer programmer, Web Function Programmer, Computer Technician, PHPBB Forums function implementer guy, etc. Anything that involves Programming something will give you a job, a good paying job, but it requires much of you. Nights and days with the code figuring out little bugs. I went to ITT for a couple of weeks to check out computer techician but they wanted to try and force 6-8th grade math on me in 4 classes (you only get 4 classes a semester there) and I wasn't going to put up with that BS. Hell they even showed me a blue box that you can use to program rollercoasters and the like.

But it would be useless in the real world. Why not learn Python and use the pygame library to make games?
