did it ever cross your mind that your just an alkward teen seeking comfort from drugs and trying to find a good reason for it?

I don't seek comfort from drugs! I seek euphoria from drugs! Or, in the case of the Adderall, concentration.

And I had always assumed that I was just an awkward nerdy person. That doesn't really bother me...Until my parents made me go to the psychiatrist. Like I've said before, he seemed to be focused purely on money. He didn't really seem to do much. He asked me questions from a depression test, (I was severely pissed off that my parents had taken me there, so that probably gave the illusion of depression) then looked at how I didn't have eye contact with him, and that I didn't say much, and said that I have it. After that I was just pissed off at the whole situation and just ignored it. I guess that I was an ignoramus and believed that it was a retardation.

Then recently I decided to quit being hypocritical (because I would've insulted anyone else for ignoring their condition) and started researching it. I found that I would prefer to have Asperger's. And initially it seems like I almost surely had it, because I matched most of the symptoms. But upon further inspection, I noticed that I was missing a lot.

Here's the official diagnosis checklist dealie.

A. Qualitative impairment in social interaction,
as manifested by at least two of the following:

1) marked impairment in the use of multiple nonverbal behaviours such
as eye-to-eye gaze, facial expression, body postures, and gestures
to regulate social interaction;

2) failure to develop peer relationships appropriate to developmental
level;

3) a lack of spontaneous seeking to share enjoyment, interests or
achievments with other people (eg: by a lack of showing, bringing,
or pointing out objects of interest to other people);

4) lack of social or emotional reciprocity.

B. Restricted repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behaviour, interests,
and activities, as manifested by at least one of the following:

1) encompassing preoccupation with one or more stereotyped and
restricted patterns of interest that is abnormal either in intensity
or focus;

2) apparently inflexible adherence to specific, nonfunctional routines
or rituals;

3) stereotyped and repetitive motor mannerisms (eg: hand or finger
flapping or twisting, or complex whole-body movements);

4) persistent preoccupation with parts of objects

C. The disturbance causes clinically significant impairment in social,
occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

D. There is no clinically significant general delay in language
(eg: single words used by age 2 years, communicative phrases used by
age 3 years).

E. There is no clinically significant delay in cognitive development or in
the development of age-appropriate self-help skills, adaptive behaviour
(other than social interaction), and curiosity about the environment in
childhood.

F. Criteria are not met for another specific Pervasive Developmental
Disorder, or Schizophrenia.

I seem to fit everything except B. Unless being a geek could count?


And it's not that I want an excuse for being socially awkward, because I don't care about that. Because socializing is quite useless. And I can socialize fairly well in a text based format. It's mainly that I just want to know. It's a mystery, and I want to solve it, because I thrive on knowledge.

Also, the reason that I want to have it is not so that I have an excuse for social situations. (It wouldn't be much of an excuse anyway, since I'm not going to tell everyone I see about it) It's because I want to have the positive things. The intelligence and such.

Also, something that is interesting that most of you probably don't know. (most of you probably think that Asperger's is a bad thing) Many great people are suspected to have had Asperger's. Asperger's wasn't really recognized until recently, and information on it is still lacking a lot, so most of these people never knew that they had it, nor were they diagnosed, but it is believed that they had it. Some of those people are Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, (maybe that's why I've always respected him much more than anyone else who has ever been associated with the US government) Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Alexander The Great, Leonardo da Vinci, Beethoven, Elvis, Socrates, Henry Ford, and Shakespeare.

They also have an evil that nearly balances the good though...Bill Gates.

Hmm...Maybe I do have it...I don't know.

I also took a bunch of online tests. I got neurotypical on all of them...

I just took this one again so that I could post the results, (I don't remember the exact score) but they changed it this time. And I'm not sober this time.

That doesn't help at all either. I don't remember exactly what it was when I took it before, but it was waay more on the neurotypical side. My intellectual one also jutted way up before. Perhaps it has detected that the Soma has impaired my intelligence.

Edit: Oh, and I also don't really follow the geek stereotype too closely...That seems quite obvious, since I'm trashed at the moment...

LOL, yeah, I didn't get that one either...I think it's because OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) often goes along with Asperger's. I think I may be obsessive compulsive too. There are only a few places where it shows though. Like if somebody sits something on my desk near my computer it infuriates me. I'm not sure why...Like one of my parents will write a note and put it on my desk while I'm sleeping, and I wake up and hurl it to the ground, then start yelling at them...And if they sit it on my computer then I get much madder...And some things just have to be in order. Like I used to have all of my PS2 games in alphabetical order, and I'd go insane if someone put one in the wrong spot. Now it's similar, but I have them in the order that I bought them.

I can understand that one. I don't have a problem with it, but I can see how not being able to see what people are doing could cause anxiety...

I have that one...I'm extremely clumsy. And being so fat that you knock things off of the wall on both sides of the hallway when you walk through it doesn't help much.
