Lulz such a n00blet. At least get Debian or something, (Ubuntu is based on Debian) and get a good window manager, not that Gnome bullshit. It isn't really different either.....

Lulz, Linux will never catch on. It will always just be for geeks. It isn't extremely easy to grasp for the average PC user. (n00bs) Plus people won't switch to something without commercial software, and software companies will do something to prevent the switch to an open source platform. OS X on the other hand is extremely easy for anyone to use, and has all the power of a *nix OS. Mac is pretty much just an extremely polished version of BSD (closely related to Linux) that has a great suite of apps, commercial support, ease of use, and everything else that stops Linux from getting big. I doubt Macs will get big either, but Apple doesn't want that. Apple's image is more that of a luxury top of the line computer. If every average dumbass had one it would completely ruin that image. Its like PCs are Fords. They suck ass, but they sell fairly well. But Macs are like Porsches. Their quality is unmatched, but obviously everybody doesn't have one. Linux is like some guy that buys a bunch of parts and builds an excellent car by comparison to the Ford. But it isn't easy, and you will run into problems and such, so it isn't for the average user.
