Do I need the $99.99 adapter made just for xbox 360 or can I use my Linksys adapter for my laptop?

What are you trying to say? You don't need anything extra (as long as you have a premium) to hook your console up. Plug an ethernet cable into the back of it, into the back of your router (usually the fourth slot is what is recommended for consoles, the slot furthest away from where your cable model plugs in with an ethernet cable) and forward any ports if you need to and it should work!
If you're talking about a network, like with PC's, then I would assume you'd need some kind of adapter but I can use my PC through my 360 just by having microsofts Zune crap installed on my PC. Other then that, like a wireless adapter, people say you need for wireless connectivity. I don't think I have ever tried wireless because it would be too slow and laggy. Even with my incredibly fast router (Gbps, not Mbps, ) wireless would lag through to the 360. |

Only MS WiFi adapters will work with the 360. Well, I guess you could get one of those wireless dongles that hook to the ethernet port. Or if you have a computer nearby then you can run an ethernet cable between the computer and 360 and share your computers connection.
Off topic: sj420, even though I like to see quotes were Gates makes an ass of himself, that one is misattributed. Well, at least that's what he says... |

The point is that in the next 10-20 years we will be looking at personal PC's with tera and peta bytes. Back then a bunch of people said stupid stuff like those qoutes in my sig and expected no one to care later when things changed. Will if you cannot say something and have it at least remotely be reasonable in the future, then thats how people should take that persons word. All that is really saying about bill is that he misjudged the requirements of computing all together. Especially consider home entertainment (IE: Gaming and now other forms of entertainment) have Pushed the barriers of PC's in an ever engaging war for performance vs price/cost ratio. At least he isn't like the sig below that. |
