i bought a new hitachi 0078kf disk drive (exactally the same as origional drive) and it plays my cd and dvd just fine. but it wont play games. ne ways, i know thats because it needs to be flashed...(or so they say) i have herd that because its exactally the same drive all i REALLY need to do is get this SUPER software that you just put into your xbox and it basically boots it up from the disk and will automatically make they key code changes for you and voila it should work. however i have no idea how to find this software. so i am hoping someone can help me just flash it regularly, as i understand this is not a difficult process, however i have read instructions and i still dont fully understand. i have been without my working 360 for quite a few months now and i am starting to wonder if i will ever get it fixed. so if theres someone out there that would take the time to talk me thru flashing my new hitachi drive to my xbox i would be sooo appreciative. or if anyone knows anything about that SUPER software ive herd rumors of that would be a miracle. thanks in advance for your help..

It will have to work in some ways. You shouldn't have to read any disks with it, but you'll have to be able to access the firmware on it. You can find some software to make a backup of the firmware, then change drives and restore that backup to the new drive.

Generally when you don't know how to do something after reading multiple tutorials, then you probably shouldn'tbe doing it. Especially when a screwup means a bricked DVD drive...
