Higher ratings then Halo 3 hopefully The Orange box won't go unnoticed

Well i picked up The Orange Box today and according to Gamerankings.com, The Orange Box is out scoring Halo 3, but isn't getting near the hype.
I sincerely hope people recognize and buy this game it is every bit as good as Halo 3 if not better in some areas and it's no secret that the Half life series has been around long before Halo, now that multiple editions and some new ones are finally available in one great package, and i for one am hoping it steals a little of Halo 3's thunder.
Don't get me wrong i love my Halo 3 but it's not the only shooter on the 360 and when another one does come along that gets similar if not better ratings i think we as 360 owners should spread the wealth and the praise, because as great as the Halo trilogy is, i just think it was WAY over hyped and here comes an equal if not superior shooter in campaign's and multiplayer and there is no count down to release on 20 different websites and TV shows, no 7 eleven cups or 50 other forms of memorabilia, no broken sales records...
and the fact of the matter is, so many people will be so caught up with the Halo 3 hype, that, The Orange Box might get swept under the carpet.
What a waste....well i for one have moved on to my Orange Box and i'll be enjoying it for months to come, and Halo 3 will be taking a break.

Played some Half Life and Portal today, but I am addicted to Team Fortress 2 so Half Life and Portal kinda got pushed to the side for like 3 hours.

Oh i love Team fortress 2 the gameplay, graphics, sound effects and the weaponry it's really addicting... i also put Half Life on hold to play some multiplayer.

Team Fortress 2 looks SO good, never played the Half Life games before so I might play those before playing this one, I've heard it's better to have played the others first to know the story and such.. suppose I could play it while waiting to get my 360 =/

LMAO You are so dumb. I know nothing about games because a game doesn't look appealing to me? And you are constantly bringing the other consoles into everything, for no apparent reason. BTW most of the members are around 18.

Oh, ok because you actually circulated a questionaire about all the members ages, actually the range of gamers ages is 7 to 45 and for forum participants is 16 to 40.
By the way your the dumb one for judging a game before you try it, i can see blowing off a game because it got terrible reviews and therefore you can't afford to take a chance on blowing $60.00, but it's the direct opposite with this game, and you have no frame of reference to go by you never tried it, but i noticed you bought Halo 3 without thinking twice about it, because your hype believing front runner, where as i always enjoyed the Halo franchise but knew it was way over hyped and besides their both shooters and other than the graphics and story line the two are not so different from each other as far as a quality shooter goes.
However fact is " YEAH " because of your young age you have much less then half of the gaming experience and knowledge as most of the guy's in here especially me, i've been gaming for 30 years, you've only been alive for like 16 so compared to me, yeah ,you know nothing.

LOL It isn't too had to estimate the ages of people on a forum this small. I'm pretty sure TTR said he was 18, or 19, I think Syntax is 19, Enzo is 16, Rach is 17, IllBashU is 14, etc. Just go down the list of members and look at the profiles of all the people with a large amount of posts. I don't think there really are any people very old here. I'm not questioning the average age of gamers or forum participants. You pretty much have to judge a game before buying it, or I would be poor from buying every game that got a good review, even though I won't like half of them. It isn't like I came out and said "this game sucks ass" or something, I just said that it doesn't look appealing to me, and I also said that I may rent it, which would be trying it. As for Halo 3, I know that it is extremely over hyped, since nothing could live up to that much hype, but it is still a great game. And I didn't just buy it because of the hype, I bought it because I had played the other two and they were both pretty damn good, so it is safe to assume that this one would be too.

Yes, I probably do have less gaming experience than you. But not knowledge. And most of the other guys in here can't have twice the experience as me, since most of them are only a year or two older.

Age means nothing anyway. By your logic the oldest person alive would also be the smartest. It just doesn't work that way.

Oh ok, so by your logic your grandparents are not smart at all, ever hear the saying " respect your elders " thats because they have life experience you couldn't possibly fathom because they've been on this earth years ahead of you and already endured and went through things you have years to wait before you go through them...but what ever you don't need to be a certain age to express an opinion, but you do need to have a basis for a skeptical criticism before you put in writing that something doesn't look interesting, alot of games don't look interesting but until you try them you just don't know.
So you might think you know things other people don't , but your wrong, oh and by the way you definetly would not go broke if you bought every high rated game released, since a normal good rating, at least for me is 8 out of 10, before i'll spend $60.00 and not too many are getting 8 or higher ratings.
Even if they are, it also depends on the genre the high rated game is because not everyone likes all genres, i myself like most of them but everybody is different. Well what ever i don't need to defend this game if and when you ever try it, you'll then eat your own words soon enough.

All that "respect your elders" stuff is just a bunch of bullshit IMO. And no, my grandparents aren't too smart. If I want to know how to remove a stain, cook something, farm, or something like that then maybe I would go to them, but if I want to know something about video games then I think they would be lost after one sentence. And if I want to know anything useful about any academics then I won't ask them. They would probably reply with something like "oh, back in my day we didn't add dem x's and z's, we just did pluses. And we didn't get to ride the bus, we had to walk 30 miles on bare feet in 40 feet of snow.........." (goes on for hours)

Exactly. I don't know if it is good, but if I see an ad for a movie and it doesn't look interesting then I'm probably not going to go see it just to be sure that it isn't good.

Even if they are, it also depends on the genre the high rated game is because not everyone likes all genres, i myself like most of them but everybody is different.

There are about 100 360 games on IGN that got an 8 or a 9. That is $6,000. Plus there are all the PC games, Xbox games, PS1 games, PS2 games, PS3 games, Gamecube games, and Wii games.

We'll see. I'll probably rent it after I get tired of Halo and I rent a few other games that I want to try.
