Hey guys,
Unfortunately i havent purchased an xbox 360 yet but im extremely anxious to get one.The only thing holding me back is that im worried about xbox live.I need to have xbox live indorder to actually get into the 360 or else itill be collecting dust like my ps2 cuz singleplayer get boring when your home alone with no friends over. The reason im worried about it is because my computer and the wireless router are in my room at my top floor, and my television where i will hook up the 360 is 2 floors down so just to clarify. My tv is in my basement and then there another floor with the kitchen and dining room and then the next floor is the one where my computer is,so technicly is like to floor away from the basement.Im concerned about the wireless adapter.Im not sure if it will get a signal to play on xbox live.I have no where else where i can put except for my room but theres barely any space, its gonna be really hard to fit a tv in there.I dont know to mutch about the wireless adapter so i dont know if ill get a strong enough signal to actually play xbox live. This is the only thing holding me back.I'm hoping u guys can tell me if it will get a signal,I would really appreciate it.Thank You P.S. Sorry for the spelling mistakes i have to go somewhere so i wrote it quick. |

Since you have to buy the wireless adapter and then you have to worry about the signal even working at all when you do, i don't think it's worth it.
I say either run another cable from your router outside a window down two floors into a basement window to the 360 or drill a small hole in each floor then run the cable through to the 360 because a hard wire connection is always a guarantee of a stronger signal anyway. |

ethernet is built in. And personally a better choice. You'll get bad latency issues with WiFi, especially if you barely got a signal.
If your going through floors, perhaps you can go down through a closet floor or whatever. Perhaps you can move your router so that it is a more centralized location. Routers will either use cable or a phone line... which are alot more likely to be accessible on the first floor or in the basement. |

I've found out that you can buy used wireless adapters at places like gamecrazy for about 40-60$, i bought mine for about 53$ and it looks new and works perfectly. Just make sure that test it before you buy it because the first one i bought didn't work and i had to take it back.

You don't need a computer in your room to do that...and you would be using the internet that the other router is already wirelessly broadcasting, so you wouldn't need any cables, besides the one going to the 360, and the power cord.
