If you have to ask these questions then you probably shouldn't do it.

I have said this before, there are too many people who come here looking for answers on mod, backups, and chipping then they break their Xbox's and come crying because they voided the warranty. Listen to Paint if you don't know just let be your going to F' something up.

Couldn't you copy the entire game to your HDD on the original xbox so there would be no loading times?

Did they take that out in the 360?

I don't think you could do that unless it was modded. But I didn't have an Xbox, so IDK.

Yeah, when I changed my Premium to my Elite,I wanted to transfer some memory(Like X-box Live Arcade games) to my PC,than to my Elite Hard drive..But I didn't want to take a risk so I left it be and lost some Paid X-box live Arcade games

Did you have a live account?

Because when I swapped my Elite for a newer Elite I forgot to grab my drive. I lost my game saves... but the Arcade games said I already purchased and allowed me to re-download them for free.

My first Elite had a broken front USB cover and the springs were rattling inside the case. It took me a while to get a new one because the stores were selling them so fast. I think I had the original one for a week or two.

Again all I lost was my Halo 3 single player saves

I dont know about that downloading thing Player asked, but im pretty certain something like that would only be possible with a modded console.

wha?

You can redownload anything you purchased in the past. Try it. Delete a stupid arcade game you bought and then proceed to buy it again. It'll tell you that you already purchased it, and it'll say, "Download again". Click that and it'll save the game back to your HDD.

I know because I bought 3 arcade games on my first elite. Castlevania, Uno, and Geometry Wars. I came home, transferred my Live account to my new Elite and redownloaded them... all of them, for free.

I dunno. I got my new Elite the day of the new Fall Update Dec. 4th or something. I remember because I had troubles transferring my live account because it kept timing out.

Yea I know about that, we told you that...

the downloading thing I was referring to was something that was asked about downloading games on the OG XBOX, like full titles instead of buying the disk from the store. That, I believe, requires a modded console.

oh. well yea. If you download game images then you'll have to have a modded drive to allow it to read regular discs.

A flashed xbox would prolly just give you extra features/cheats.
