okay my xbox got two red lights bottom left and top left. everything i read said overheating so i did the x-clamp mod (therefor) replacing the x clamps with 8 screws 16 metal washers and 16 nylon washers.....this did not work. after the mod i began the (baking) process three seconds in i got the same lights! i let it sit for a wile thinking o well and still nothing??? only thing i didn't do was put the liquid silver stuff down before the heat sink would that be causing this? and also what else could it be? Also the red light are pretty instant when i go to power on. i checked all cables!

The silver silicon that you forgot is very important. Metal surfaces aren't completely flat (even though they appear to be). The touching metal surfaces have microscopic scratches, pockets, and may not even sit completely even on the surface.

The silicon is a filler that allows even, distributed heat absorption to the heat sink.

You can guarantee bad heat absorption without it.
