ok this may sound really stupid to a lot of you but Im not the best technical person... I bought a nice 32" flat screen there at the weekend and was hopin the 360 would now look a lot better but I dont really see the difference in it to be honest. I was expecting to be wowed but nothing.
Now theres every chance I havent bought the right telly.. Its a philips hd ready telly normal resolution for that size seemingly.. Am I missin a cable or is there anything I could try to make it any better or is my eyesight just really rubbish?? Cheers |

Are you using the the red blue and green av cable or the red white and yellow one? The red blue and green is HD.

How is the 360 connected to the TV? Composite, (yellow, white, red) component, (red, green, blue, red, (another) white) VGA, (PC cable) HDMI? If you are using composite, or S-video then it will be in standard definition and probably look worse than it did on your old TV. If you are using anything else it should look much better. Also be sure that it is set on the correct resolution.
Edit: Damn, Other said the same thing in a more condensed version before I had time to reply. (I had a bunch of tabs open from various forums, so it took me a while to get to this one) |

Yeah mine splits like 3/4 of the way down the cable so it has regular and HD.

My elite came with an HDMI and another analog cable. It has a switch on the plug near the xbox connector that goes between TV <--> HDTV.
It splits at the end like a Y Composite (White, Yellow, Red) and Component (Blue, Green, Red) With the switch on TV, it'll output the video over the yellow Composite. If you swap it to HDTV, it'll output it to the Component. I don't use the HDMI because the audio is included. Since component and a HDMI output the same quality, I use the Component cable so that I can use the audio plugs (White and Yellow) to run through my surround sound. So in this case, using a LCD TV, make sure you use Component or HDMI cables, make sure it's set to HDTV, and crank up the resolution in the settings. You can choose between many of the various resolution options. 1080i looks the best (native resolution for my TV). Native resolutions always look best but its dependent on the TV make and model. |

^not really, it really depends on your tv, but in most cases HDMI is slightly better because its digital.
btw the elite comes with a splitter so you can use hdmi for video and audio is another cable so u can hook it up to your surround sound.... ![]() This is a good article...

It doesn't depend on your TV. HDMI is better quality because it is digital. Even if you had a SDTV it would still be higher quality because the signal doesn't get distorted on its way to the TV like analog does.
