So I just got this game yesterday at Gamestop. I've been debating on buying another game because all I play is Halo 3. All my other games are still new in the wrapping.
I bought this game because the creator of the Final Fantasy series also created this game. Being a fan of Final Fantasy's I figured it would be good... and so far its great. You can definitely see similarities between Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy. Take the character Sid, who plays a role in EVERY Final Fantasy game... well in Lost Odyssey his name is Sed. lol Anyone else playing it? |

In some FF's his name is Cid. Which I am actually more use to then anything else.
But yeah, I kind of want this game but don't want to spend that kind of cash on 3 games (56 bucks a piece? gimme a break). |

Haha i went to Manchester (UK) this morning to get my Girlfriend a Xbox 360 for her up coming birthday ( which she as begged to have early, so i am giving it to her tonight ..too kind, haha)...anyway whilst i was down there i got her the Xbox 360, and i got myself Lost Odyssey ^^. I ain't that far, (i am guessing) i just beat that big bird On the peak of the mountain, First boss, if you will. And yeah in my opinion it is very good.
Question for anyone who could help, i got an exclusive in-game weapon and level for pre-ordering it with game....as anyone got any information on this "perk". Thanks. |

No I heard about the weapon and level deal... I guess it would be a good boast. The battles get real hard soon. I've always been a fan of Final Fantasy and I keep dying.
One thing that sucks is that you can't choose to heal a person that is dead. For instance 1 character is dead. If I have my first guy to use an Angel Plume to revive him, you can't choose to heal the downed guy until after the round is over (next turn). So what happens usually is I revive, they come alive with like 100 HP, and get wacked next turn for instant death. Normally, if I remember correctly, in other games you could have 1 person revive and the next heal in the same round. So one person would get him alive then the other would heal him for some extra health. It just makes it extra hard because once a person dies... you almost just have to forget about him and continue on. One of the boss battles took forever and I kept dying as a result of this. But anyway. Yea sj420 your right, the name was Cid. Its been a while for me. But what are you talking about 3 games for $52 a piece? |

Turok, Lost Odessy (which I don't know if I want if you cannot revive & heal), and CoD4 or Assassins creed or something like that.
All I have is Halo 3 ( hardly play ) Forza 2 (play the most) and Armored Core 4 (waiting to play) |

Well I wouldn't NOT buy it because of the revive&heal case.
While it does suck, you learn to live without it. You have 5 people in your party fighting at once, and no one goes until you set all your members actions (which kinda sucks). Its a bit different then normal but none the less is a fun game. Everything has a "time" spec. Like a 1A attack would go first in 1 round; 1B would go second in the round; 2A would go first next round; etc. Item use is 1A so it is fast, skills are usually fast too. Magic depends on your caster and their magic strength, and can be sped up by using "helper" skills. And while none of the cons are REALLY bad, they are just different. On the flip side there are some really GOOD differences that I really like. I was going to rent it first, but I couldn't find it available so I bought it. I'm glad I did cause I'm addicted to it now. Its exactly what I was looking for and fills my void of RPG's on the 360. Its a sure buy in my book. |

Ok well, thats fine with me because thats what SunAge is to RTS.
I still can't buy it unless I just charge it and forget it, its sounds ok and looks fine. I still wonder what the battle system is like, is it real time kind of like grandia 2? That happened to be my favorite DC game. |

I've never played grandia 2 or anything. The battle system is kinda like Final Fantasy 7... except no characters take action until after you've chosen actions for all your characters. The only bad side is that you can't tell one person to revive another, then wait for him cast revive, then have another one heal... all within the same round.
BUT items always go first. Attacks usually go second. Higher level magic casters will be faster to cast magics. There are 4 types of Magics; White, Black, Spirit, and Composite magic. Once you get into the second disc, you'll start getting Revive+Heal spells. 5 characters can be in battle at once, so the fights are bigger and harder. I've never played an RPG that is so hard. You really have to think about your strategy. I'm 20 hours into it now, and at the start of the second DVD. I bought a strategy guide and am finding I missed a lot of stuff. It's worth a buy, but rent it if your unsure. |
