EA chops online for 06 games
Friday 3-Aug-2007 10:57 AM FIFA, Madden, Fight Night, and Burnout servers switched off from September

If you never see the point of buying every yearly update of EA's sports titles, EA's about to give you one: from September 1 it will begin shutting down the online servers for most of its 2006-edition sports titles.

As of that date, the online gameplay options on games like Fifa World Cup 2006, NBA Live 06, Madden 06 and Tiger Woods 06 will be rendered useless on all formats including PC.

This means you'll have to purchase the newer editions of the games to continue the fight via the web, or stick to split-screen games. The full list of games to be effected is below.

I doubt there are people still playing those old EA games...

i gurantee you guys theres still lots of ppl that play these games. Not everybody goes out and buys the new version every year, theres lots of ppl that buy one and play it for many years and then buy a newer one. Before buying NHL 07, the last one i bought was NHL 2004, i played that game basically untill 07 came out. I have friends that would still be playing the 05 games on a daily basis if the servers hadnt been shut off.
