Free Halo 3 Copy

I am kinda mad... because i bought the 360 last night and was under the assumption that Halo 3 was free if you purchased a console between November and December. I even remember seeing a commercial on TV about it. I thought it was too good to be true and apparently it is. After searching for the redeem forms... it is only available to EXISTING Xbox owners WITH an EXISTING Live account that SWITCH over to a 360 and XBOX360 LIVE GOLD. Which basically prohibits me.

Good thing I didn't open Call of Duty 4 last night.

Think I should get Halo 3 or stick with CoD4?

I heard Call of Duty 4 was good... but all my friends and family have Halo 3. After writing all this, I'm thinking of exchangeing CoD4 for Halo3. Any GOOD reasons no to? or is this a no-brainer swap.

personally i dont like COD, so for me it would be a no-brainer swap, even though im not a big Halo fan either. Is there a reason for you not to have both though? They are the two most popular games on Live i believe(i know Halo 3 is #1, but dont know if COD4 has passed GOW or not. I think it has...), so you wont have any issues finding people to play with.

Well its not so much finding people to play with as much as just wanting to play with my friends, because they are all big Halo fans. They always get together several times a week and play together.

If I kept CoD4, I'd be playing with random unknown people. Plus I heard CoD4 has a short single player while Halo3 would keep me busy regardless of if I wanted to play online.

I think I made my decision to swap them, just because I'm more into the fictional shooters vs real-life shooters (Quake, Unreal Tournament, Halo VS Metal of Honor, Call of Duty, etc)

I can't wait for Unreal Tournament 3 to come out. The Demo on my PC is sweet.

oh believe me, all halo has is online. the first player is almost as bad as in halo 2, which was unbarible, and horrible replay value

theres a bit of replay value in the Halo 3 single player if you go for the meta scores and skulls, other then that theres none. I personally quite liked the single player. I dont know anything about the COD4 single player though..

playing with random ppl online is the best way to make new friends. Dont be scared to make new friends

Yea I really wanna get going online. But I really suck lmao. My last console was a Wii... and before that was a PS1 (before PS2). So its been a while. I'm not used to the Dual Analog controls so I'm trying to get the feel for the system before I slaughter myself online.

I played Halo 3 single player for like 5 hours last night (on easy lol) and the controller is becoming more comfortable.

I tried to play Halo 3 online last night with my cousin, and I kept getting a NAT incompatible message, telling me mine was set to be most compatible, and it was the other players. My cousin said it happens randomly. Is it a setting or something... or just something you can't get around?

Go into the Dashboad, go to the final blade and select Test XBOX Live Connection(You might have to click something else first, i dont remember) The final test in there is NAT. See what it says your settings are. For XBOX Live to work 100% it needs to be set to OPEN. If it is set to Medium or Strict, you wont be able to connect to everybody online which is a major hassel. This is a setting in your Router and on most Routers it can be easily changed by simply going into the settings and changing it to Open. Not all Routers allow you do to it that easily though and so some work arounds need to be done.
