New twist: Microsoft working on a "better" Metal Gear Solid 4?

Here's a new twist to an old rumor: huge PlayStation 3 franchise exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 has always been surrounded by talks of going multiplatform but now there seems to be a rumor going around that Microsoft is going at it with a different approach.

The rumor doesn't say whether Microsoft is still pressing for MGS to go multiplatform. However, it does say that Microsoft is developing a game that will rival the franchise that made Solid Snake a video game staple.

According to the digital grapevine, Microsoft is meeting with a "highly talented studio" to make something "better than Snake." It doesn't end there though; the rumor adds that Microsoft executives have already seen the demo of this game and were "thoroughly impressed."

All the game needs, apparently, is deciding on whether it should be told from a first or third person perspective. The game supposedly takes place in the future and its storyline will be centered on major political events from the last few years.

Perhaps the biggest claim in the rumor is that the game offers visuals that


[...] were previously thought to be next to impossible on the Xbox 360 and is supposed to look better than any PS3 game that has been shown or is available on the platform exclusively till date.



Metal Gear loggerheads and fanatics are going to have an insanely twisted time with the game.



Note though, that aside from the testimony of the source of the rumor, nothing else was offered to support the existence of the game. Perhaps it exists, perhaps it doesn't. We'll have to wait for more news to come in.

Then again, we may be waiting for more rumors to come in. Or no news to come in. At any rate, we'll have to wait and take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Its probably just a rumor and won't ever happen, but if it does I doubt it will be nearly as good as MGS. It will be like GTA and all the rip offs. None of them actually meet up to what they are copying. (and like Windows)

I don't think it takes much to impress people at MS. Just look at Vista. Ooo, pretty colors!

We know we don't need to tell you guys this, but Metal Gear Solid 4 coming to the Xbox 360 is still a rumor despite gaming site Xbox Family saying, rather unequivocally, "Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the Xbox 360. This is not a rumor." Well, duh ... it's a rumorang.

With that caveat out of the way (and stowed safely in a locker somewhere), we'll proceed to relay the rumorang your way: An unnamed Konami rep apparently dropped some knowledge on Xbox Family, whispering that MGS4 would sneak onto the Xbox 360 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version is released (whenever that is). The site also published a lengthy email from Microsoft's John Porcaro basically saying "no comment" which they also suspect may be further proof of the rumor. (Why did he write so much? He's very polite, you know.)

With Konami execs straight up saying that Metal Gear Solid 4 may go to other consoles, and MGS4 producer Ryan Payton saying the game needs to sell a million copies on day one to make the pricey production profitable, it's not like Konami's showing their best poker face either. But that doesn't mean it's not still a rumor which, of course, we don't need to tell you guys.

I bet it is Turok, Turok is a big hit with classic gamers, very fun game. I just want them to stay more true to the old turok and not make it a snake-eater spin-off that is suppose to "look better", it needs to PLAY better. When you stab someone you should practically feel a chill down your spine and across the back of your neck when you slide a knife into someones neck.

I bet you it is Turok, as an intellectual property, that they are comparing to be even better than snake.


I don't know, tell you the truth, my mind see's a very frustrating battle for snake against Turok. I'd like to see a flash video of that battle! Snake vs. Turok!

I don't think it's Turok,since Turok is

1-Nothing new
2-Going on PS3 as well
3-Doesn't look that great,not enough advertising and not being published or made by Microsoft...

I think Turok is dead,the Turoks released on ps2,X-box and GC were never as great as the Original released on N64..

But let's not turn this into a Turok thread..

My personnal opinion about the whole MGS4 comming on 360,well if I was Sony..I would suspect that Konami are cheating on me..Even Kojima said at a conference that they are not working on a 360 version..Yet
