Xbox 360 Elite Vertical Lines Through HDMI

Hi All,

I’ve got a very annoying problem with my output for my Xbox Elite.

When booting up my Xbox I notice Vertical white lines on the black back drop of the boot screen.

This wasn’t initially a problem as once you get into the game the aren’t noticeable.

I got a HdDvd drive for Christmas, and when I played a HdDvd through the Xbox I get the same vertical lines appearing whenever the background is black….. you try watching something like Starwars or anything with a predominantly black background! It looks like a bad pimps pin stripe suit!

I haven’t tried another cable yet, I will try this weekend.

But I was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

I can add that this isn’t a problem with the TV as my SKY HD box is fine through the same AMP (Onkyo) via HDMI to the LG 38” Lcd.

i think u have the cables plugged in to the back of the tv wrong because i had them and it turned out the cables were inserted wrong also i am a new member so hi everyone

Nope, This is a tall tale sign of GPU damage. The heatsink is probably coming off of the GPU. I read this in laptopvideo2go.com and was telling it to someone else who is experiencing the problem on a game.

Its heat damage to hardware.

I would Have to agree with SJ , My friends been having the same problems just recently he has been getting the line through the screen and then somtimes it appeared to go green and strange ha!
The next time he turned his console on he got 1 ring of light , and an error code relating to a Graphics chip or GPU error.
He had to pay £60 as his warranty was up!

Yes, I read this one a website related to drivers for GPU's. The people that make those custom drivers (and they Really did help me, trust me, not with personal assistance but with a custom driver that let me run all of my games where my default drivers didn't - with a laptop it is painful to find drivers as Nvidia doesn't even support their mobile series! Hah!) are very talented and I appreciate their work a lot.

I was digging around for relating information as someone has the same exact problem on another game and upon searching for information for that person on laptopvideo2go.com I found that vertical lines mean that the GPU is damaged, either the heatsink isn't working correctly or the Vram is fried.

I am tellin ya people, throw a $20 dollar XION cooler under it and that won't happen.

I kind of understood what that person was talking about. I think they mean more or less that it wasn't plugged in all the way. The other day I kind of pulled my hdmi cable out while I was using my laptop and it had these Horizontal white lines on a greenish background.

But this isn't the case.
