3 Red Rings Now 2

Hey all Hopefully I can getsome help..

I bought my son a xbox 360 and I thought everything was fine till he told me 3 red rings were blinking and its been out of commision for 8 months. I can't return it because he opened the xbox. Now I cant return it so I went searched and followed step by step to add some pennies to the ram for weight. Now I get the green lights for a split second then now 2 red light I believe its for overheating Im sure the I put the fan in the right way where it blows hot air out of the unit. How can i fix this?

Call microsoft tech support. And then they'll end up sending you a pre-paid box, and they'll fix it, and they'll probably have for a week max.

They wont fix it cause my son open the xbox and its obvious he did.

The 360 has a 3 year thing. You still sould be able to call microsoft, and go through tech support, he didn't break it himself did he? no, you got abad 360

So do tech support, and once they see its got the 3 red lights of death and it's not working, if its showing green, just wait until it isn't, and doing red again, then get on the phone with tech support, and they should take it back

EDIT: You voided the warrenty for doing what you aredoing

LOL, he opened the case of the 360. The warranty is void.

no he didin't break himself but he did open the casing himself. He told me his friend said look for loose solder didn't see anything put it back together but there is signs on the casing that it was opened which MS told me on the phone if it was tampered they will not fix. Oh Yea My Son! My 19 YR old son!

well if he is 19 he must have a job... tell him to buy u a new one or pay for the repair.

If you send it back to microsoft. If you are in the USA, they try to get a prepaid box to you, that you ship it in to you in about 3-4 days, once you get the box, ship it out, they try to have it back in a or two, but sometimes it's more like 3 weeks, it depends on how busy they are i would assume, but plan on it being gone for two weeks max, unless something else is the case.
