My CD drive no longer reconises CDs i put into it.
I called support, and was informed my warrenty has expsired, and i cannot find my PoP to prove its withing its warrenty, so they are asking for £60 from me to repair it, plus shipment. So, i got thinking for cheaper options, do the external HD DVD drives reconise games? since HD is out of business now i can pick up a drive for less than the price to repair the xbox, so this could be a good option if it works. anyone know the answer to this? thanks! |

I don't think you can put the games in it, but I don't have one, so I'm not 100% sure.
But I would just stick it in the oven or something and make it get the RRoD since you are still under warranty for that. (everyone is) |

Nope:I have a HD-DVD drive and I have tried, it does not run Games.
I'd do what paint said... do something to get the RRoD.

hes saying that since the OG posters warranty is up, he might aswell try putting the HD-DVD drive in his 360.
but as others have already said, it wont work, so theres no reason to do that and just screw yourself over even more

Nobody in this thread even mentioned installing the HDDVD drive into the 360...He was going to use it outside of the 360 just like it originally is which won't void the warranty in any way...

ah yes that is true...when I re-read the og post I just skimmed over it to remind myself of what was said and read it as he wanted to put it in his 360...

SAMSUNG SH-D162D DVD-ROM Drive can recognise Xbox and Xbox 360 disks. I'm willing to bet you could (if you knew how, or paid a professional) hook this up to your 360 and play games with it.
Not certain, but I reckon so. It recognises them... (Yes, the British spelling of recognise *shock*)
