it worked as a live cd for ubuntu 6.6 but for some reason it wont work 4 the new ubuntu and mandriva :-/

Fuçk this, Mandriva 2008 totally sucks ass. It reminds me of using Windows, and that is the worst thing I can say about anything. I can't get X to start. :/ I booted it up, and it takes me to the command line, I try to start X and it says:

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11.  Server aborting.

Edit: I managed to get it running by replacing xorg.conf with xorg.conf.old, but all these problems are still pissing me off, so I may still switch to Ubuntu. :/ Now that I wasted a bunch of time on that I only have a few hours to write an entire script for a dumbassed play, and do eight 100 word essays on retarded shit. :S

Compiz Fusion looks soo awesome. But I'm more of a Mandriva guy, I don't really like Ubuntu, so I'm just going to go with the new Mandriva 2008 with Compiz Fusion, which I just realized was out. Time for a download.

Well I say Windows is only good for the basics (even then its not) but Linux is cool to if it were made more simpler and had more software support. BTW what is Mandriva because I want to check it out.

What I do is run Ubuntu, use WINE... but also have Windows Installed in a Virtual Environment like VMware.

It actually works faster and has a higher compatibility rate (because it IS windows). The only bad thing is that games usually won't work.

But WINE works great once you figure it out and get it installed right. I run Half Life 2 through Wine and get 80FPS, which is only like 5 FPS less then actually running it in native windows.

Oh, and compiz is ok, but Beryl is MUCH better.

Beryl is dead. They combined with Compiz to make Compiz-Fusion which is the best of both.

I'm a linux user too! No windows boxen around here
I use fedora now but I bounce around a lot (you wouldn't guess what distro I use by lookin at it - I use fluxbox as my desktop enviornment and I typically have 30 xterms open

I just wanna comment about my repair - it went off fine, I had to call them a few times but all good. Weird part is that I got my xbox back on monday and today I just got another empty box... Debating about what to put in the box..
