Does the wireless adapter pick up any wireless signal?
I have a BT Home Hub and i was wondering if the wireless signal will be picked up by the xbox adapter?

Hey guys,
Unfortunately i havent purchased an xbox 360 yet but im extremely anxious to get one.The only thing holding me back is that im worried about xbox live.I need to have xbox live indorder to actually get into the 360 or else itill be collecting dust like my ps2 cuz singleplayer get boring when your home alone with no friends over. The reason im worried about it is because my computer and the wireless router are in my room at my top floor, and my television where i will hook up the 360 is 2 floors down so just to clarify. My tv is in my basement and then there another floor with the kitchen and dining room and then the next floor is the one where my computer is,so technicly is like to floor away from the basement.Im concerned about the wireless adapter.Im not sure if it will get a signal to play on xbox live.I have no where else where i can put except for my room but theres barely any space, its gonna be really hard to fit a tv in there.I dont know to mutch about the wireless adapter so i dont know if ill get a strong enough signal to actually play xbox live. This is the only thing holding me back.I'm hoping u guys can tell me if it will get a signal,I would really appreciate it.Thank You P.S. Sorry for the spelling mistakes i have to go somewhere so i wrote it quick. |

Well I have mine upstairs at the back of the house, and my router is downstairs at the front of the house, when I played Halo 3 with the boyf and a friend the other day it chooses the person with the best connection to be the host when watching the movies in the theatre, and I had the best connection even though my boyfriends is connected through the ethernet cable, I'm not sure if this is a reliable source or not but yeah mine works fine and I never have any problems with it. You mentioned you couldn't put a TV in the bedroom but could you put the computer and router in the basement?

Just run a cable, or possibly try a Signal Repeater.
They also make Router Boosters, which clip on to the BOTTOM of your router and PUMP mega voltage through to really extend the range. Also Wireless G has good range, but the signal degrades greatly. 802.11b is 11mbps and it either works at 11mbps or it doesn't. A G-Router can run in both modes (B and G, or both). The only way is to really just set it up and see for yourself. If you need to boost the signal there are devices to do so... as well as hacks. You can hack a regular router to be able to send signals from a mile away if you direct it properly (home-made wifi-satellite). Just note that WiFi has bad latency and you WILL suffer in online games (LAG). If you can get a cable up there, you would really benefit from it. |
