Anyone try them? I've been looking for a solution so that I can play at night, once my 1year old goes down for bed. As of right now I play with no sound and just use the headset to listen to live during gameplay.

Supposedly this headset has gotten some good reviews and is the 3rd in the series so they fixed and upgraded here and there.

The audio is transmitted via IR, but also spits out XBL Voice chat over the same speakers, so you get the best of both worlds. The unit is connected to the controller just like a wired headset for Live to work, but gets its audio wirelessly through IR sensor.

I just bought the Wireless Headset from Microsoft but haven't used it yet. I'm thinking of taking them back and getting this so I can play with audio at night.

I just wanted to see if anyone has tried the x3's before I go drop $100 (going rate anywhere)

It gets the sound from IR? Wouldn't that kinda suck ass? You turn you're head so the receiver isn't facing the transmitter, or someone walks in front of you, and the sound gets cut off. Plus I don't think it will be very good quality if its coming over IR.....are you sure its IR?

Yea I'm Positive its IR. I actually bought it yesterday, but haven't been able to actually sit down and test them out.

This is the 3rd model Turtle beach has produced and it had got really good reviews from lots of trusted websites (can't name off the top of my head).

The headphones get sound via IR, and get Live Chat via a corded connection to the controller. Supposedly it automatically adjusts chat volume to match ingame volume, so you don't miss what someone is saying while there is loud in-game noise going on (explosions, etc). You can also manually adjust both volumes as well.

The only bad thing that I noticed is that it uses a standard 360 connection just like the corded headset... but it won't work while I have the chat pad plugged in (original problem). I guess I'll have to deal with it because playing quietly is a big necessity. Why M$ made the chat pad with a different port is beyond me. Kinda stupid I think.

I've been using the headset for a few hours and can honestly say it works pretty good. For just game audio the link to the controller is not necessary. The link to the controller is only required to activate the microphone.

As far as IR range, it is just about as good as the controller itself. I had no problem playing on the couch which is 15 ft away. Everything worked pretty well.

The only down side is that there is a slight hiss which is only noticeable in silence. The manual talks about ridding this hiss but none did much difference. The hiss is there regardless if the IR unit is turned on or not. You could hear the hiss by simply powering on the headphones. Maybe its a bad unit but it isn't worth the fight.

Its got pretty good spacial audio. In game I could distinctly hear where action was taking place and whether someone was walking behind me or shooting at me from a specific location.

I hadn't tested the mic because my kid was asleep (the reason for getting them). The Voice sounded good. I'm unsure if the headphones loose connection via the IR, if the LIVE will pick up through the controller or not. My cousin takes breaks to go outside to smoke, taking this controller and headset to communicate. I don't know if this is possible until I can test the mic. Thus far the voice was been coming over the speakers with the game audio (as it would with no headset plugged in)
