Yes i know today is April 1st but im gonna go out on a limb on this one, i dont think the guys in Taiwan really take much notice?

Anyway, rumour has it that Lite-On is currently developing an internal Blu-ray Disc drive for the Xbox 360 game console.

According to reports from DigiTimes:
Lite-On's shipments of the BD ROMs to Microsoft will start in the second half of 2008, the sources added. Lite-On is currently one of the suppliers of Xbox 360-use internal DVD-ROM drives.

Microsoft has decided to switch to BD for its Xbox 360 game consoles after Toshiba announced to discontinue HD DVD, the sources said. The BD-ROM drives that Lite-On is developing for Microsoft are for the next-generation Xbox 360 game consoles, the sources said.
There's been a lot of speculation to date as to whether Microsoft will develop a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360, with Sony claiming to be in talks with the company. This was widely refuted by Aaron Greenburg, Group Marketing Manager for Xbox, who said that the Xbox division weren't in talks with Sony or the Blu-Ray association in regards to integrating Blu-Ray into their Xbox 360's.

If they use it for games I'm going to be soo pissed, yet so happy at the same time. I'll be pissed because I'll have to buy a new 360, but happy because the 360 won't continue to hold the whole industry back.

they will never ever make a built-in Blu-Ray drive for the XBOX 360 that is mandatory for games. When it says 'next generation XBOX 360 consoles' I would assume that to mean the XBOX 720 because that would be the next generation.
Its possible they will make a Blu-Ray player for the 360, for movies, yes, but they will never make it mandatory for games.
