the game is free on PGR. It was only the version they put on the marketplace that you had to pay for. Seeing as this version is in PGR, either you only get the trial version on PGR4(which is possible) and you buy the full version off the marketplace, or you get the full version free in PGR. If they make the full version free in PGR, they may or may not put a version on the XBLA.
I'll take a look a c what other systems they put Geometry Wars on, cause i know they put it on another system. EDIT: Just found out. They put it on the Wii, DS, and mobiles.(btw, dont do what i did and try going straight to the site not knowing it...i was typing in bizarre.com with different spellings..bad idea...lol the site is in fact bizarrecreations.com, not just bizarre.com...)

I actually rented this for the Wii when I had it AND is what made me decide to sell my Wii for a 360. The reason was the only GOOD game on the Wii was a 360 port. Sad. Plus there online seriously lacked anything a adult gamer needed. The entire system was designed for your mom and 13 year old boys.
Regardless I played Geometry Wars: Galaxy (rip off of Mario Galaxy?). There are LOTS of differences between the Arcade and the Wii version. The main difference is that you have a "Helper" bot that flies with you. The helper bot has different abilities that you can power up via experience. The bot initially attacks occasionally, but can be powered up so that its shooting just as fast as you are. There are other abilities like Defense, Collect, Laser, Sniper, etc. Each ability can be unlocked via star fragments or whatever. Which is another difference; enemies drop star fragments when their killed, which do several things. There are 3 types to get; small, medium, and large. Small is a 1x, medium is a 5x, and large is a 10x multiplier for your score. The multiplier can go up to 150x before it maxes out, and resets on a death. The star fragments also are used as currency to unlock other plants and galaxies and your helper bots other abilities. I dunno. I can make the claim that it is MUCH easier using the Wiimote for shooting (or aiming where to shoot) as my score was up in the hundreds of millions (ex 600,000,000). I can barely break 100,000 in the arcade version. But that doesn't kill the fun factor. If I had to buy any 1 arcade game, this would be it. |

Geo Wars came out long before Mario Galaxy...so no rip of there.
Theres different versions of the game, obviously. If you buy the Arcade version you get the Original one that came with PGR2 on the XBOX. The game was built for the XBOX, so the XBOX controls are the way the game is meant to be played. The game is definately worth while buying. I bought it pretty much as soon as i got my 360 on launch. With the purchase, as i mentioned above, you get the original version, plus you get the Retro Evolved version. I really want to play this new Geo Wars Waves thats on PGR4...I think i need to go rent PGR4.

The Wii Version is called Geometry Wars: Galaxy
I don't know if there is a resemblance but you don't hear Galaxy too often. I dunno. Just a thought. |

i played the DS version for the first time on the weekend. I only spent a few minutes playing it as it was my friends and we were playing on the Wii at the time. My left hand got so cramped though in those couple of minutes from holding the DS..It was quite awkward..

Welcome to the other side. Feels good!
I want to buy Geometry wars too, on the MS Arcade... but I can't top 100,000 points (which is the limit in the trial). So buying right now is pointless. You get an achievement for breaking 100,000 and I want it bad. The most I got was like 91,000 or something. So close... then I threw away 2 lives before breaking 100,000. That was the last time I played. |
