Is my profile doomed forever

Hi. I just signed up for these forums. Pretty cool place.
The story is
I signed up to xbox live a month ago, and I was retarded and didn't put that I was over 18 like everyone does.
I can't use it the way I want, I can't use the messenger, I can't download most things now, etc.
I was wondering if theres anyway to make my xbl account an adult account, or if I can cut all communication to xbox live and start a membership on the same gamer profile.
If not, I guess I'll have to make a new account, which I don't really want to do since I worked really hard for alot of achievements and such.

ok happened to me.
did you enter your parents, guardians email and pass?
if so log into the parent bit,
go to (your account name)
and edit all your permissions to your liking.

Going into Parent Controls wont do anything if you are on a Child Account. When i was on a Child Account, even with all Parent Controls off, i still had restrictions. Its a new feature M$ has added. If you have a Child Account some of the Parental Controls get over-ridden. The only way to get passed them is to upgrade your account to an adult account(which is what the OG poster was asking)

Im not 100% sure if this works if you are still under 18, so i cant gurantee it, but give it a shot. Go to the Dashboard, click on your GamerCard, and go into Account Mangement. Under there will be an option called Promote Child Account. Select it, enter new credit card information and mailing address(entering the same information as you entered when creating the account works) and your account will become an adult account with no restrictions.

It didn't have promote child account, I think it's only if you've turned 18 after you made an account.
Do you guys think it's worth making another account? My gamer profile is Doomshadoww btw.

well when do you turn 18? Your 17, so if you wait, even if youve just turned 17 today, you'll only be waiting a year...well i suppose that would be a bitch...lol. Basically, based on what you just told me, that the promote button isnt there, your ****ed untill you turn 18. So, make ur decision based on when your birthday is. If its coming up shortly, i'd wait. If its a long way away, then i'd say probably cancel your account and make a new one.

in order to dl items off the marketplace do u need a gold account?

some items are exclusive to Gold accounts, and all items are timed exclusive to Gold accounts though.
