Xbox LIVE Still Experiencing Issues

Not everyone has had problems, but I know some of you have and I wanted to give you and update. While the service was never completely offline, problems like this are not acceptable. The entire LIVE team has been working day and night to ensure that you can have a great LIVE experience. While we’re not done yet, I wanted to let you know that things are getting better each hour and that no one on the team is going anywhere until the job is done. Thanks for your patience.

It seems that the spokesperson for a huge company could at least run a grammar check before posting an announcement. I guess that just shows the intelligence of the people working on this problem, and the reason it isn't fixed.

While it does get better every hour, it seems to relapse, and get twice as bad as it was the next hour.


I don't see why they can't hire somebody that knows what they're doing to fix this. i.e. somebody who doesn't work at MS.

As people have noticed, we have made good progress. We have a bit more work to do, but we’re doing much better now. I know some of you still may be having issues, and we’re working on those. Oh, and Happy New Year to those that are celebrating.

Your friend and ours, Xbox Live, has been going through some tough times lately. In the past week, the service that many of us pay roughly $50 a year for has been up and down more frequently than a bipolar groundhog. If you want to tap right into a live feed of the Xbox Live operation, Apollo 13 style, sign up for Major Nelson's Twitter feed, which has devolved into a play by play of the network's status (last update: "Things were a bit wonky, but they appear to be getting better.").

But, since many of us are paying for the privilege, there's a growing sense that we deserve some sort of compensation. While we at Joystiq won't be satisfied until Bill Gates himself writes us each a check for $1, TheBitbag.com claims that an Xbox insider told them: "we will definitely be doing something for our Gold members that weren't able to get online over the last week." Though we can't be certain precisely what that is, our inside sources are telling us "footrubs."

Understatement of the year. Nothing that hasn't happened before though.

Friday was horrible. My cousins and I tried to play Halo 3 online and couldn't get into 1 game. Then voice chat died and then we were unable to even join each other.

All the gamertags were blanks and profiles weren't being loaded.

Saturday one of my cousins called MS 1800 and they told him to go into the memory settings, Hit "Y" on the HDD then do the "XX LB RB XX" and do maintenance.

I hadn't tested it Saturday before I did the maintenance, so it might just have been the time (early saturday). Afterwards it was 90% better then Friday night. Although I still have problems with Messenger.
