i wonder if anyone could help me
i'm trying to connect xbox live using a direction conection between my modem and console
when i test the conection the ip address test always fails
i've tried to entre the ip address,subnet mask,
gateway and the primary and secondary dns servers
manually but it still fails the test
i also tried rebooting the modem but no luck
has anyone got any ideas

Thanks...

yh i had problem so i conected router and it works but maybe you have that cable that connects modem to pc through what looks like usb mine didnt wwork as i needed to install software for it hopefully that helped

it could just be from all of the live problems. if not try connecting it to a router

No the Live problems wont affect the IP address test. It would only affect the XBOX Live test.
I dont know what could be the problem..sorry.

(just saw your new post..) The Live problems will be over when M$ can get the servers to a point where they can handle the amount of people logging on. Most of the problems are gone now, but Live still isnt back to 100%. LIke I just said though, the Live problems will not affect this at all.

A Direct connection should work, I dont know why it isnt working. Try asking in the Technical Forums over on XBOX.com they will be able to answer your question for sure.

You should be able to find one that works fine for $30. The 360 WiFi adapter on the other hand is $100.
